iPhone App Guided Tours of Dublin
GeoGuides has developed a new app for the iPhone, called VisitDublin, which is available from the Apple Apps store on your iPhone. It provides an online tour of Dublin’s attractions.
Visitors to Duffys of Ballybin often abandon their cars and take the frequent buses from Ashbourne to explore Dublin, with Trinity, the Book of Kells, Dublinia and the Guinness Storehouse being particular favourites.
August 6 – 8: 17 Solheim Cup players to compete in the 2010 Ladies Irish Open at Killeen Castle
The AIB Ladies Irish Open has attracted the strongest field of women professional golfers in its history at Killeen Castle on August 6-8.
The field comprises of five current American Solheim Cup players and the full European team that includes world ranked 3rd, Suzann Pettersen who won the event in 2008, Anna Nordqvist ranked 6th, Laura Davies, current European No. 1, Catriona Mathew MBE, reigning Ricoh British Open Champion, Sophie Gustafson, past multiple winner of the Ladies Irish Open, Maria Hjorth and Helen Alfredsson, the 2007 Solheim Cup Captain.
The USA challenge is lead by the charismatic and extrovert Christina Kim, who made a huge impact at the last Solheim Cup in Chicago. Fellow team members Angela Stanford ranked 9th in the world, Brittany Lang, Kristy McPherson and Brittany Lincicome, winner of the ‘LPGA Major’ The Kraft Nabisco in 2009 will add to the ‘across the pond’ rivalry at the event.

Last night’s seminar was on “Europe in 1210”, next week it’s “Ireland in 1210”, the following week it’s “Tara in 1210”. Starts at 8pm.
While I was there I went to the top of the Hill of Tara to have a look at the new M3 motorway. I couldn’t see it, everything was quiet. Of course that’s probably because nobody is using the new motorway yet.
Perhaps the curse of Tara is on it …

National Sandcastle and Sand Sculpturing Competition, Bettystown Beach, Sunday, June 27th
This year the National Sandcastle and Sand Sculpturing Competitions will take place on Bettystown beach on Sunday the 27th June.
Everyone; young, old, experienced and novice sand castle builders and sculpturers are invited to take part in a great day out and to try their hand at creating their very own masterpiece in sand. See the photos from previous years to get an idea of what you can expect to see on our beautiful beach on the day and come along to join in or simply watch others at work.
